Format guide
Which format should I choose?
JPG is the most compatible choice for photos. PNG is lossless and suits screenshots, graphics and transparent images, but files are larger. WebP keeps transparency and is usually the smallest option for websites.

FAQ
Image format questions.
Which conversions does this tool support?
JPG to PNG, JPG to WebP, PNG to JPG, PNG to WebP, WebP to JPG and WebP to PNG. Choose one output format and it applies to every file in the batch, so you can mix JPG, PNG and WebP inputs.
Is JPG the same as JPEG?
Yes. JPG and JPEG are two names for the same image format. Files ending in .jpg, .jpeg or .jfif are all accepted, and JPG output is saved with the .jpg extension.
Do my images upload to ImageToolSpace?
No. Images are decoded and encoded by your own browser on your device. They are not sent to our servers.
What happens to transparent backgrounds?
PNG and WebP keep transparency. JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are placed on a white background.
What if an image is already in the format I chose?
It is not converted again. The original file is kept unchanged and clearly marked, so it is never recompressed or simply renamed.
Is metadata kept?
No. Converted files do not keep EXIF data such as camera details or GPS location. Rotation from EXIF orientation is applied to the pixels first, so photos stay upright. Colours are converted to standard sRGB, and wide-gamut colours may look slightly less saturated.
Which browsers can create WebP files?
Current Chrome, Edge and Firefox can. Safari can open WebP images but cannot create them, so the WebP option is disabled there; JPG and PNG output still work.
Are there any limits?
Up to 30 files per batch, 50 MB per file and 50 megapixels per image, to keep conversion reliable inside a browser tab. Animated GIF, PNG and WebP images are not supported.
