Format guide

Why PNG output matters.

PNG keeps every decoded pixel without further compression loss, so it suits editing, design layouts, screenshots, and images with transparency. For everyday sharing where file size matters, HEIC to JPG is usually the better fit.

FAQ

HEIC to PNG questions.

Do my HEIC photos upload to ImageToolSpace?

No. HEIC to PNG conversion runs in your browser. Your selected files are decoded locally and are not sent to our servers.

When should I choose PNG instead of JPG?

Choose PNG when you need lossless output for editing, design work, or images with transparency. Choose JPG when smaller files matter more.

Why are PNG files larger than the original HEIC?

HEIC and JPG use lossy compression, while PNG stores every pixel losslessly. In our tests, 12 MP phone photos became PNG files of roughly 9 to 24 MB.

Does PNG keep transparency?

Yes. If the HEIC image contains an alpha channel, the PNG output keeps the transparent pixels.

Which HEIC and HEIF files are supported?

Still photos saved as .heic, .heif or .hif by iPhone, iPad, Android phones and cameras, including high-resolution, tiled, rotated and 10-bit images. HEIF image sequences such as bursts or animations, and AVIF files, are not supported.
